Writing Prompts Online

Stephanie Said:

any writers??? please help!!!?

We Answered:

I'm kind of antisocial when it comes to writing prompts... I really like getting writing books with exercises for ideas.

For example, the one I'm reading now has the following prompt:

-----

• Going to Confession. This can be any religious ritual about which the character has strong negative feelings about (fear, anxiety, guilt).

• "Everyone Hates Jim" scene. Use that line/idea, and write a scene based on it

• A character being tempted to commit a crime and not doing it. The line between moral and immoral

Or choose one of the sets below and write for 45 minutes and mention each of the set's items at least once:

• Fist, Jealous, Poodle
• Breast, Armor, Tweezers
• Parrot, crabgrass, sex

-----

I really like this book's prompts. I've gotten some great writing exercises out of them. If you want to make your own "three word" set, check out http://watchout4snakes.com/creativitytoo…

Just put "noun, common" 3 times, and you'll essentially get what the book prompts you with!

Hope that helps! Best of luck with your writing!

How to write a PSAT essay?

We Answered:

The PSAT has no essay. The PSAT Writing sections include multiple-choice questions on grammar, usage, word choice, and organization. There is no essay section (unlike on the SAT), but schools are provided with a practice essay to help students prepare for the SAT essay.

Chidambaram Publishing House,
North Block, New Delhi.

Gwendolyn Said:

Should I include the prompt at the top of my common app essay if i'm applying online?

We Answered:

I would add it in. When reading LOTS of essays, it is often helpful to the reader to be reminded of the prompt as he or she reads. Especially on the essays that are supplemental and specific to each school.
