Writing Prompts For Teenagers

Dorothy Said:

Im writing a book called Eternity.is there a publisher or anyone that thinks its good here? il tell the blurb.?

We Answered:

First, the reason everyone assumes teenage girls are writing vampire stories is because 99% of them ARE. Second, you want a publisher who's interested in the story to respond? Have you ever heard of practicing your craft and paying your dues, so to speak? Do you really think publishers or agents sit glued to YA searching for the next Stephanie Meyers? They're too busy cultivating the talent in the authors they have and wading through the piles of submissions received daily from authors who have painstakingly researched, revised, revised, and revised again their work.

I applaud you for having an original idea, but at this point, if you're going to pursue it, do it for your own satisfaction, not with the idea of fame and fortune. You may well achieve these things some day, in fact I hope you do. But until then, write, write, write, and do it for your own pleasure, not to be a teenage millionaire.

Good luck, and powerfullest is not a word.

Marjorie Said:

Do you think hip hop music has an affect on teenagers getting tattoos?

We Answered:

first off, you should have used "effect" in the place of "affect." "affect" is the verb, "effect" is a noun and can be substituted with "result" or in this case "impact." if you can substitute one of those words into the sentence and it still makes sense, use "effect." (just a little grammar lesson from your friendly neighbourhood grammar knight.)

secondly, what a silly question. it has no impact whatsoever. that's like saying that listening to classical means you can play piano, or that listening to punk music means that you have weird hair and have anarchic leanings.
it's all just stereotypes.
