Writing Prompts For Persuasive Writing

helppppppp about fcat writes?We Answered:
1st of all, chill out. You'll do well with these tips. Trust me, my teacher taught me well & I'm taking it too this year. P.S. I know this is long, but please read it, its VITAL for you to perform your best on this test!2nd, nobody knows whether it's persuasive or expository, so it's best to prepare for both.
In a persuasive essay, you're PERSUADING them. in other words, convincing them. For example, if the prompt was whether or not to let students eat snacks in class or not. You would say whether they should or shouldn't and have atleast two main reasons backing it up. In your introduction, though, you should say what the opposing thesis is. For example, if you think students SHOULD be allowed to eat in class, then towards the end of your intro say "Now, they could be sitting in class with an empty stomach growling at them, forcing them to not pay attention. Or, they could be munching contently upon an apple with a full attention span and full stomach." <- THIS is what I mean.
Try not to use symbols like "&" or "+", ALWAYS SPELL OUT WORDS. Try using sophisticated vocabulary, look up some words in the thesaurus tonight! Instead of using the word "many", you can use "PLETHORA". Which sounds better?
In the FCAT writes, you should strive using literal devices such as METAPHORS, SIMILES, or ALLITERATION. NOT ONOMATOPOEIA!!!! The whole point of the Florida writes is to sound sophisticated and get your point across using details. You DONT want to start it off with "BOOM! went the explosion." Instead, you can use, "You're tying your shoelace, when all of a sudden a loud explosion races through the air, causing your eardrums to pulse." Which sounds better to you? The second one, of course. It's called IMAGERY. Making the person grading your essay want to read MORE!
SUPER AMAZING HINT FOR PERSUASIVE ESSAYS: Use a statistic 1-2 times in your essay. For example, in the snacks in class one you could say, "A CNN study concluded that children perform better academically when given snacks for energy in class" This makes your reader BELIEVE what your saying. Which is the main point of a persuasive essay!
Another thing, it doesn't matter what your subject is about. AS LONG AS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE SAYING. Even if you don't agree with what you're saying, just write it down! Also, USE LOTS OF DETAILS. You don't know how many essays these people grade that are lacking details and plain boring. MAKE IT CREATIVE!

10th grade FCAT writing, question about a good intro? We Answered:
When starting the essay, one really good idea is to establish your credibility. Ex. I am an average teenager attending school and expanding my knowledge. Lessening the amount of homework is an absurd idea. It is a key part in the education of students like me.You also want to have direct appeal.
