I was pretty smart too. And I made a mess out of life. I always felt i wasn't as good as other people. All of my family was crooked except my mom and dad. When I was very young people would say "He'll never amount to anything." So thats how life went for me . Depression , like you , all my life.
One day a neighbor that had helped me out many times said that a friend of hers was going to commit suicide,and for me to go help him. Well I went to where the guy was , he had the radio up loud, so I snuck in the house and he had his back to me, leaning over the sink. He had a gun in his mouth. I snuck up behind him and planted a haymaker to the side of his head. The gun flew out of his hand. I set him down , talked to him , and said that he could commit suicide later . Just give it one more chance.
He came and stayed with me for one year. I got him into A.A. and Narcotics anonymous and he did well. One day I was visiting Thailand and wrote him a letter asking if he could get me a job where he worked. He worked for an engineering firm . When I got back to the states he got me that job. I had struggled all my life without much money. Two years before my wife divorced me . Total depression.
Well to make a long story shorter , I worked 9 years for this company , saved every penny I could, aad ended up with $500,000. So I retired at age 57. SO you see that things can go so badly for so long and then WHOOM things changed.I also had a very good mental health doctor. That really helped. So just hang in there. You don't have to be the best. Don't judge by what other people do , say or accomplish. You are unique. Something special. Be you. Get some mental health help. And carry on. Even if there is a bucket of poop at the end of a rainbow , take it and fertilize the flowers. It will get better. Believe me.

Wow, that is quite a list. There were some VERY funny ones in there. I like yelling "My Shoelace" at the bottom of the escatators. lol Oh and what do you have against Cabbage Patch Kids? lol
