Frank Said:
Should it be reccomended for people or even required that we know a 2nd language for our profession? racist? We Answered:
Learning a second language is a good thing whether your job benefits or not. Along with the language comes a better understanding and appreciation of a different culture and, more importantly, the people who make up that culture. I do agree that people who live in this country need to conform to our standards and learn our language, but is there no room for theirs as well? Americans segregate themselves from each other in a multitude of ways including political parties, church denominations, and occupations. Even at a sports game, fans of each team will congregate together and yet with all of this division, we still manage to hold together a unified country. Considering this, it makes sense that people with a common background and heritage would identify themselves as a group just as you may identify yourself as a Republican, a Baptist, or even as a Gator. I do become irritated when immigrants blame Americans for their problems. As far as I know, Mexico's problems are caused by the Mexicans and China's problems are caused by the Chinese. But just because we're not part of the problem doesn't mean we can't be part of the solution. As a side note, if you can't write English any better than this question, then I would suggest that you try writing your 5 paragraph essay in Spanish.
