First talk about your personal opinion of the importance of continuing educations and the importance of giving back to your local community--> Which should be You think they are VERY important. Then talk about how your activities show your commitment to continuing your education and community service. For example, if this describes you... You could talk about how you wanted to take AP classes or participate in the running start program because you wanted a challenge, and you feel that it is your responsibility to take an active role in making sure you get the best education possible. For the service part, if you are involved in any community service organizations (Key Club, Scouts, YMWCA, Big brothers/sisters) you should talk about that. Even if you have ever been the benefactor of any service orientated programs like if you had a big sister, you can talk about how that impacted your life. The most important thing to do it personalize your opinions, give real life examples (from your life) as to why you feel the way you do. The last portion of your paper should talk about how you will use your college education to give back to the community... You will be a teacher, or a nurse (whatever!), just relate it to what you want to major in. An important thing to remember DO NOT LIE!!!

I offered this bit of advice to another person earlier tonight, and I think it might work for you as well. Use stream of consciousness writing to address this deceptively simple question:

"Why?"

It can be anything your heart desires. Is it a question asked over a cup of coffee between friends at 3am? Is it a police officer trying to understand a criminal's reasoning? Is it a response to someone standing in the rain asking their loved one not to go?

Let your imagination answer the question.
