Writing For Kids
Nathan Said:
Would I be able to tutor kids in writing with my experience? What would I charge? We Answered:
People will hire you as long as you appear sane and responsible, especially with a Bachelor of arts in writing. Tutoring really doesn't require any degree necessarily. You should probably start around $20, like a nanny, but before you start make sure that you know what you want to get in to. What times can you commit to?Most people will want a consistent time every week for their child. For example...when I was younger my parents fired a nanny because she broke the schedule my mother had laid out by getting me to make french fries before spelling practice, homework, and piano.
You will also want to make clear whether or not you feel comfortable with their parents leaving the house while you are tutoring their child.

Are they doing away with teaching kids cursive writing? We Answered:
I've taught in several different elementary schools in the past five years, and all of them were still teaching the children to do cursive writing. They worked on it quite a bit in third grade. Some schools are teaching children a different kind of cursive writing that goes straight up and down instead of being slanted. It is supposed to be much easier for children to do, but I have to admit that in my opinion it looks awful! The Handwriting Without Tears method used by some schools teaches this kind of cursive.
So, though I am sure that schools in some areas may not be having students work on cursive, many others are still doing it. I think it is a good thing because I've seen many students (including ones who might not care about most school subjects) take a lot of pride in their penmanship.

writing a kids story about the animals in the rainforest? We Answered:
You could do a morality tale (maybe see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil type of theme since you are using monkeys) that talks about a person's responsibility within a community. For example, loggers are chopping down banana trees. The three monkeys see this happening and debate about whther or not they should take the bananas or whether they should go back and tell their parents/community.
Rosemary Said:
hey I write kids books and would like to know how to get them published? We Answered:
Congratulations on your accomplishment. You have achieved a goal for which so many strive: completion of your book. This is an achievement of which you should sincerely be very proud. One option you may want to consider is going the self-publishing route. It's becoming more difficult, in this rough economic climate, to find a trade publisher willing to expend the money to pick up a work by a new or unknown author. If the desire is there, however, to see your work published, you do not have to sit and wait for a trade house to make this a reality.
There are many self-publishing options available to authors, from full-service subsidy publishers such as Dorrance Publishing to low-cost print-on-demand services, like RoseDog Books. These companies can help you take your raw manuscript through a pre-press process that gets it into shape for publication.
Whatever route you may choose, please do due diligence and research the company in which you are interested through the Better Business Bureau. This service, which is available at no cost and online, is valuable to be sure the company with which you are thinking of working is an active member willing to do what is necessary to satisfy its customers.

All the best in your publishing endeavors, whatever they may be.

Writing kids books?We Answered:
you can do it, just stick with it =]Mario Said:
Would I be able to tutor kids in writing with my experience? We Answered:
It's true you didn't go to school for teaching but you do have a degree in that area of knowledge so I think any parent would feel comfortable with this just as long as your able to successfully teach the people you are tutoring. I would look around and see what other tutors are asking for, usually they charge by the hour I would maybe start at 10 dollars an hour but it all depends on where you live. Look around in craigslist and you might see what prices tutors have in your area.
