Glen Said:

What should I title my story?

We Answered:

The key to a good title is something that summarizing the action of the story as far as who is involved and what it is about. Some titles invovled phrases that summarize the plot of the story and other titles invovle the name of the protagonist which the story revovles around from his/her viewpoint. The action hear clearly invovles murder on a stretch of highway in the middle of a snowy night. If the girl survives and her father dies, I'm thinking of a good title: Betrayed or Traitor or Hitchhiker (because the guy who sliced up her and her dad said, "Thanks for the ride" so either he was in the car or he was following them and got out behind them and assaulted them with the knife. I really enjoyed the scenery you put together. It really held my attention and I was imagining the girl was a child like 7 or 8 holding the lantern, shivering with fear as she looked for her father, panicking on the inside. You used the fearful, suspense factor very well cuz I was waiting to find out what happened to her dad and who was yelling and screaming and that was awesome penmenship on your part. Keep up the imagery.

Isn't it so annoying when people dismiss/diminish the amount of work you put into your art?

We Answered:

yeah i know exactly what you feel. apparently, being creative is no match for people who studied math and science, and you're constantly compared as to who among all of you works harder than the rest. people should understand that each one of us have different gifts, and that all those things contribute to a better society.

don't worry about those unappreciative idiots. let them do all the drafting and revising and see if that's such easy work. I practically fainted before my thesis defense from constant lack of sleep because of the hard work.

you should be proud to be an artist. :) you put heart into your work, you make the world a more beautiful place, and you make others feel good when they see your art. :) I'll give you a pat on the back if other people won't.

Help with UC Prompt #1 2010?

We Answered:

Part of your world can be anything that impacted your dreams and choosing something outside of your family or community may give you an edge against everyone else. The question is general enough to talk about close to anything.

How far is too far when physical force is used in school against special needs children? ?

We Answered:

Physically forcing a child to do his school work? That's bad enough. Physically forcing a child in special education who was having a bad day to do his work. Beyond reproach! What type of people are working in this school? I can't believe they don't even notice your son's state of mind, just grab him and force him to write? What is that supposed to teach anyways? That stronger people win? NICE! Oh, I know... The teacher is always right, and if you don't follow the rules, we'll bully you into it.

I would contact http://www.topaa.org/ Texas Organization of Parents, Attorneys, and Advocates. Tell them your story and ask for guidance. Also check out wrightslaw.com http://www.wrightslaw.com/info/abuse.ind… The texas special education law, and IDEA should be the guidelines, not Texas Penal code. After all, your son isn't a criminal, nor was he engaging in criminal or dangerous activity.

They did not need to perform the actions on your son to "maintain disipline within the group", they could have removed him to a different room, where he could just sit quitely if his sitting at his desk not working was causing a problem.

I'll tell you what, if this was my child I'd be spitting mad and screaming from the roof tops.

Talk about denying FAPE. I can't imagine your son would want to go back to school now. I know I wouldn't want to send him to a class where the teacher thought this was the appropriate course of action. Grrrr...... I'm so sorry this happened!

Is it abuse when 3 adults pin a child down to a desk and physically make them do classwork, leaving injuries?

We Answered:

That is terrible, here in the UK teachers are not aloud to physically restrain pupils at all, yes there are many disruptive pupils now because there isn't a discipline system, but its good for cases like Abuse.

i think its disgusting that they can do this to a child, not just a child, but a child with special needs.

i have worked with special needs children at my school, and see that they are very loving and caring people, they can get very emotional.

i see no justifications in pinning a child to a desk, causing multiple injuries & obvious stress & frightening circumstances, just because he was very depressed about a family death, and didn't feel like doing any work.

i am not from texas or the US for that matter, but the police officer that claims beating your children is the best Law, i don't see how these people sleep at night.

keep trying to fight this case, show as many people as you can, and get as many different types of people on your side.

Also: they have the audacity to say if he does not return to school, you would be going to jail. BUT they are the people who should be going to jail.

in my opinion i think you should get your child out of this school as soon as possible, he does not deserve this at all.

i hope this is resolved, & these so called 'teachers' are given justice.
