What is your favorite genre(books)?
If you need help for a name, go to google or another search engine and type in, 'Names for boys/girls'.
It has helped me alot.
I don't like writing about myself, but bits of me are in my work.

You wake up from a deep sleep and find yourself in an unfamiliar place. You are bewildered at first by your bizarre surroundings and then you see something that absolutely terrifies you.OR: write a short story about an a masterpiece being painted from the point of view of the canvas.
OR: first sentence: I blinked up at the cold, harsh lights and wished that I was anywhere else in the world but here.
If you like writing stories based on given first lines, check out thefirstline.com, a literary journal that provides a first line for each issue and then publishes stories that all use that line. Seems like something that might be up your ally, and it's a fun/easy way to break into the publishing world.
