Spanish 1 writing prompt?We Answered:
A verb is reflexive when both the subject and the object are the same.Examples you could use for getting ready for prom would be:
Me despierto - I wake (myself) up
Yo me lavo - I wash (myself)
Me peino el pelo - I comb my hair
Me pruebo mi vestido - I try on my dress
Puedo verme en el espejo - I can see myself in the mirror
Yo me visto - I get dressed
Voy a vestirme - I am going to get dressed
Me afeito cada mañana - I shave every morning
No me quería levantar esta mañana - I didn't want to get up this morning
Mi novio/a se baña y se lave la cara - My boy/girlfriend bathes (him/herself) and washes his/her face
Mi novio/a se afeita muy despacio - My boy/girlfriend shaves him/herself very slowly
If the subject and the object are not the same, the verb is non-reflexive.
For example:
Mi novio/a lava su cara/pelo - My boy/girlfriend washes his/her face/hair
Yo llamo a mis amigas - I call my friends (on the phone)
You could use any of these verbs:
bañarse - to bathe oneself, to take a bath
cepillarse - to brush (one's own hair)
desayunarse - to eat breakfast
despedirse - to say goodbye, to take leave
despertarse - to wake up
divertirse - to enjoy oneself, to have a good time
ducharse - to take a shower
irse - to leave, to go away
lavarse - to wash oneself
levantarse - to get up, to stand (oneself) up
llamarse - to call oneself, to be
marcharse - to leave, to go away
peinarse - to comb (one's own hair)
ponerse - to put something on oneself
quedarse - to stay, to remain
quitarse - to take something off of oneself
sentarse - to sit oneself down
vestirse - to dress oneself, to get dressed
You could even start off with a reflexive verb by saying: Me alegro tanto de que finalmente es hora de fiesta de graduación! - I'm so glad that it's finally time for prom! "Me alegro" is your reflexive here.
Best of luck!
