Sol Writing Prompts

Tanya Said:

Rate my essay for me please?

We Answered:

I do not know what grade you are in, however, I am grading you as I know so far at a high school level.
and btw, its really cool that you're interested in furthering your writing skills
Breakdown by paragraph
#1 - do not use all caps for any word
rhetorical questions can be used in certain places but if this would be a formal opinion piece (not a newspaper one) then you should not have a question that never recieves a direct answer
thesis statement is really good :)
#2 - where are you quoting from when u say "frees all americans"?
#3 - what township??? be more specific
#4 - again, where is that quote from
again, in some cases these rhetorical questions would not be okay - you should be answering these questions with your opinions not asking them
#5 - maybe find a better transition
"we" does not belong in a formal piece
Overall
Grammar - 5 (out of 5)
Style - 4 (only because the verb "is" is not okay in a school report - i don't mind but a writer or teacher might)
Idea - 5
Proof - 5
All in all, this is a very good essay. I suggest that you try writing without "is" and also without nominalizations (which are verbs turned into nouns like memorization, which is the verb memorize).
By no means should you be put down by this because you really are an amazing writer. Just keep on writing and improving :)

windows blue screen of death?

We Answered:

Enter the BIOS* set up and look for 'Restore/load factory defaults' or similar. If that doesn't work, you're going to have to beg, steal (only joking) or borrow a Windows disk (see below)...

You might need to get hold of an install disk for your operating system (XP/Vista/Win 7), borrow one if possible, and boot with that (any one will do as long as it's the same version eg:Home/Pro/Basic/Premium etc.).

Start in SAFE** mode and click Start (then Run in XP) and type (in the search bar in Vista/Win 7)

sfc /scannow

(note the space between sfc and /scannow)
(in the search bar in Vista/Win 7)
and press Return/Enter.
If asked to insert the Windows disk, do so.
When the scan finishes, re-start.

*On startup, keep tapping either F1, F2, F10,(Be Aware that some manufacturers also use F10 for system recovery!) Esc or Del (depending on your system) until you get to the BIOS setup screen.

**On start up (before Windows loads) keep tapping either F5 or F8 (be aware that some manufacturers use F8 for system recovery!) then use arrow keys to highlight 'Safe Mode' and hit Enter/Return, click on a user account, enter the password (if you don't know it, there probably isn't one so leave it blank) and hit enter/return.
