I think it could use some tightening and editing (for example, in the first sentence, simply say: "The clock ticks" without "by" to omit needless words), but overall, has good cohesion and sticks to the theme and assignment. I was having an amazing time. It was my first party with my friends since I had moved out of my parent's home. Saturday night, the music was loud and had a dance beat. My boyfriend Travis was designated driver for me and Chastity, my long time best friend. I was getting tipsy and she was kissing all over some guy way too old to be at this party.

Suddenly Shawn Bauer burst through the door like a rhino charging a poacher's aim. He was high, I could tell by his bloodshot eyes. He announced to everyone that he was gonna kick someone's behind and asked who was gonna rise to the challenge.

My slightly older brother Ben just happened to be within arms reach of Shawn. Ben seems to always be the unlucky guy, wrong place, wrong time. You know the ones. I could picture in my head his face beat to a pulp. Shawn grabbed him by his collar. That is when my boyfriend said something to draw Shawn's attention. He released my brother's collar and headed toward Travis. I didn't wanna see Travis or anyone else get hurt so I quickly got between Travis and Shawn's rapid approach. "Shawn," I said, "hey you know what? You can't start a fight with Travis. Know why? Because if you do, that takes his attention off of me. And you know I have to be his center of attention at all times. "

Shawn stopped looked at me and blinked. "Whoa, dude, I'm sorry, I can see you already have your hands full," he said to Travis, then he laughed and turned around and walked away. I was shocked but glad that it had worked. Shawn settled down on the couch with a beer and promptly passed out.
