What type of essay is expected for the GED test?

We Answered:

You are given 45 minutes to write an expository essay. More details can be found on GED-i:

Purdue U.'s OWL provides a study guide to help you prepare for the written portion of the GED:

Another good site to help you learn to write well-formed essays is The Five Paragraph Essay Wizard for expository essays:

As I tell my students, preparation and practice will give you confidence and reduce anxiety so you'll do well. Good luck on your test!

GCSE English Lang paper 1 - Do you have any ideas prepared for the narrative question?

We Answered:

nope. i'm doing that paper tomorrow too :)
i always go with the formal letters as i'm not a creative person and find that they make life more easier. i'd suggest not to as u may end up in the exam trying to remember every single detail of your plan etc

Penny Said:

How to give my practice in writing more direction?

We Answered:

Okay. To use your example, don't just say, "He was emo." Say, "He wore black clothes studded with silver, and his hair was (insert color here)."

This is a prime example of you simply telling us something about the character/person instead of showing us. We don't want to hear that *you* think he's emo. We want to see it for ourselves.

EDIT: Oh, LOL! Sorry. But the advice still stands. Show. Don't tell.

Where can I find someone to proofread and help edit my scholarship essay?

We Answered:

Sara,
I'll be happy to try and help you if you like. I edit and rewrite papers for college and grad students for a living and generally they score A's on work I have contributed to. I have helped to write a half dozen or so scholarship apps and about as many admissions essays. If you'd like me to look over your work or help you with it, send a draft of your paper to my email address: hickcrazy1@yahoo.com. Please send along a brief bio with your work. Mention hobbies, favorite arts-music, dance, painting etc, volunteer duties, languages, any class offices you have held.Things that let me know a bit about you and your academic career. Also let me know what you plan to major in.
