Dave Said:
Help on understanding my writing prompt, I don't understand, please help?We Answered:
translation: what did bards do in order to gain and keep an audience's attention when they recited oral poetry. Devices: a particular word pattern, figure of speech, combination of word sounds, etc., used in a literary work to evoke a desired effect or arouse a desired reaction in the reader ex. rhetorical devices.Terrance Said:
Are there any good poems about modern day society? We Answered:
you can use mine. i promise i wont tell.the 1920's were bare
conservative clothes and greasy hair
the beer was stopped
the pills were popped
their wing tips had no flair
the Prohibition sucked
the working man got f***ed
kids followed the righteous path
or shalt have met the leather belt's wrath
and heroin got massively trucked
the mafia made lots of cash
they sold lots of booze and kicked lots of a*s
jimmy hoffa got killed
in his automobile
and they never found his stash
*because it was hidden*

Please Help me with this assignment!!! i can't do it and im gonna fail if i dont!!!!!!!?We Answered:
Well choose one of those. Read some poems, and see waht kind of a voice they have (sad, happy, confused, thoughtful, angry, etc)and then look up different kinds of parodies and just mimic what they have done.
It doesn't need to actually be good. As long as you are doing a parody, and that has some humour, you will get a decent to good mark.

Question for all you writers out there.?We Answered:
I just let my mind be open. If I think of something interesting, I write it down and tuck it awy for when I have time to think about it. Music is a big inspiration too. When you're listening to something, imagine the scenario, but try to think deeper into it. Why did this happen? who was that person?I suggest that when you're lying in bed, about to go to sleep. Just lie there and let your mind wander. If anything at all comes to you, write it down. I've recently started keeping a notebook and pen on my bedstand. Keep a pen with you at all times, incase you suddenly think of something. remember, the beauty of writing is that you can make anything out of the most ordinary thing or idea.
your genre is an influence too. Are you doing fantasy, or non fiction? think on that. If you feel like a fantasy story, then the ideas are limitless, you just have to make sense of them. non fiction? Look at everyday life and think, "What if this happened instead of that? What if he knew her and they ended up over there?"
Just keep your mind open!

Classwork poetry - is it passable or a complete disaster? We Answered:
I am not sure what the teacher wants, I would want it to be more poetic, in the sense that it would have an even cadence to it. I wrote something a few minutes ago that by no means is finished and posted it as it was, I believe that if you can put some rhythm in this it will be much better for doing so.Sylvia Said:
