Ralph Said:

Are novel writing software programs really worth the expense?

We Answered:

I use yWriter5 and think it is perfect for me. Bonus is that it is 100% free.

Patsy Said:

Is the novel writing software "Storybook" safe to download? Or is it full of viruses?

We Answered:

Yes it is safe.

I have it and am currently using it right now. :)

Melvin Said:

anyone have a good and easy novel writing software?

We Answered:

Papel and yWriter are both good and they are both freeware. Nothing fancy, but if you tend to write bits and pieces, they both allow you to type in chapters and scenes, and then later organize. Papel is not as featured as yWriter but the interface gives you a bird's eye view, if you like of what you're working on. In yWriter, you can drag and drop scenes into Chapters, rate scenes according to importance, tension, PoV, etc. Sorry, I can't seem to locate a webpage for Papel but if you google, it's on several freeware sites. For yWriter, try www.spacejock.com/yWriter.html

Kathy Said:

Good novel writing software?

We Answered:

Every novelist I know, both in person and online, uses whatever word processing software came installed on their computer, usually Word.

There is software that helps plan or organize novels, but as you might expect, the result tends to be simplistic and formulaic. You can do better with a simply outline, index cards, a flow chart, or detailed synopsis.

All your novel writing software has to be able to do it produce a manuscript in submission format. The lowliest, oldest word processors can do that.

Troy Said:

Novel writing software: suggestions? is it worth it?

We Answered:

I purchased a software called 'MyNovel.' It's by Microsoft. It's incredible, and has done everything to help me. There is NO regrets in purchasing it. It cost just over $40 (Canadian dollars).

I used to promote it on this site, because if it helped me, then why not share it? But I felt odd doing so, and I haven't even mentioned it in about 4 months, but since you asked... just google 'MyNovel download', and it will send you to the page.

Well, good luck writing. I hope you take my advice. If not, just try it. They have a free trial.
