Non Fiction Writing Prompts

Darryl Said:

What's a good thing to write about for a personal essay?

We Answered:

your earliest childhood memory
your first kiss
family vacations
your first job

Jessica Said:

can anyone please read this short essay for me and tell me what you think about it? does it answer the prompt?

We Answered:

damn that was long as hell. good though

Rene Said:

Do I write?

We Answered:

It's great that you have all these bottled up, super-creative stories. However, since most of us can't read your mind that means that they are useless to us. Write it or don't (though all those people who tell you to write a book are out of their minds. Writing a book without having ever written a short story is like trying to climb Mt. Fuji without having tried the hill in your back yard). As for your fear of failure: Fear doesn't prompt laziness. Laziness prompts laziness. Get a journal to write all your stories in, where no one but you will read them. Take your favorites to friends and family and take their favorites (because while their feedback is always positive, they'll always be honest on which is their favorite) to an instructor you trust. I have an English professor I hate, but when I get stuck, I e-mail her because she's always straight with me on what needs improvement.
Don't fear failure. Have you ever tried to actually write a short story? Every page is a success, believe me. No one's going to twist your arm and make you submit anything for publication. The only failure is not picking up the pen.

Rick Said:

Do you guys like the idea of more fun, short writing challenges?

We Answered:

Yes, please! I answered your other thing before. I would've actually made up my own Mary Sue character and bad plot, but I only had a minute so I decided to just pick on Twilight instead. :)

Chester Said:

Please send Bombing of Hiroshima sources?

We Answered:

Who cares what the doc thought? He's a figment of Hersey's imagination.

Can you please help me out...how is this introductory paragraph (I'm in college)?

We Answered:

id say that its prity perfect but instead of this "but according to the non-fiction essays written by Rebecca Solnit, “The Solitary Stroller and the City,” and Pietra Rivoli, “Dogs Snarling Together: How Politics Came to Rule the Global Apparel Trade,” one cannot isolate traditions from the sweeps of new concepts and ideas." i would find a line or 2 that suports what you said in the fist couple lines then site there work

also for a tip on future essays i find that you dont actualy have to answere the question given but only to have an argument through the essay and have a clear point thruout the essay

i actualy wrote a 6 page paper in college about how unimportant the essay i was assigned to write was and got an A

sorry about the spelling
