Night by Elie Wiesel?

We Answered:

All books by Elie Wiesel are profoundly moving and Night is perhaps his best known work. I was fortunate enough to get to attend a lecture by him and he is not exactly hopeful for humanity. If you want to know about genocide go to Human rights watch. Also look up Darfur, Congo, Turkey and Armenia. Assignments are given to educate you, this one is important, do the work.

Vernon Said:

what is your response to these journalists?

We Answered:

Every barrel of apples has one or two bad apples in it, and you have just named a couple of them.

Fortunately all reporters, and columnists are not like them, and try to report fairly, and accurately.

Janet Said:

General U.S. Grant's view of his fighting?

We Answered:

Let me start by saying that I need to read those same memoires.Have only seen excerpts in Civil War history books.
As to his style, it is indicative of the man in one dimension, he was a practical, humble and task oriented man.Look at his photos. His uniform is very plain compared to many officers of the day that looked like strutting peacocks. At table he basically ate the same as the rations the men ate and on tin plates.Other gentlemen of the day would have special meals served them on china and silver they carried along.
Now here is the side of Grant that he does not talk about. He suffered huge bouts of depression during sieges(like Vicksburg) and after successful campaigns when he got the final casualty reports. He had been known to take to his bed drunk and not emerge for days at a time.He was painfully aware of the costs in human life he needed to expend for victory and suffered great guilt over it privately.
