George Said:

Ideas for writing a journal entry based on a book?

We Answered:

What message was the author trying to convey?
What did I get out of the book?
How am I a better person for reading the book.
Was the book worth the 2 hours (?) of my time? Why or why not?
Would I recommend this book to others?
What literary terms did I most like in this book?
Would I read another book by this author?
Good Luck!

Colleen Said:

please help quick. i have to write a journal about how i feel about writing, and i reallly HATE writing, ideas?

We Answered:

If you hate writing, then state it. Compare it to something else you don't like and use that as the metaphor.
Think about some good lyrics or poems that are metaphors and use that as a guide.

I find a lot of metaphors in music. Try that.

HEY, EDIT:
I thought of another good one. You could use ice skating as a metaphor for writing. You could say,( I try and try to ice skate and I keep slipping) and things like that. It would be a great metaphor to use. I really hope this works out for you.

Walter Said:

Journal ideas. Want to write more in my journal but my life is boring.?

We Answered:

Do not discount the small things in life. Even though they seem mundane and scrupulous now, those meticulous details are what add up to the sum of great things. Your journal should not just be about grandiose events, but about things you want to do. Your desires. Write stories, draw pictures, poetry, the world is yours in all of those blank pages. Let your imagination flow, like when you were a kid. Don't be afraid, and when it seems like nothing "important" is going on, its really preparation for something big. Look forward to the future. Make silly lists of things you enjoy. Be honest. Get in touch with your feelings. In other words, LET GO!

Rebecca Said:

At 14 should I be focused on writing bits of my book or strengthening my writing journal with ideas and such?

We Answered:

At 14 you should be writing lots and lots of different things. You probably aren't ready to write a book-length story yet. Practice writing _completed_ stories, with a beginning, a middle and an end. You wouldn't believe how many people try to write a novel without having ever even written a 1000 word short story. They generally end up with several thousand words of "and then" soap opera with no plot structure at all.

I don't even know what a writing journal is. But a 14 year old new writer certainly should not be focusing on a single book.
