There was a little book published a few years ago (in the 80s, maybe) called The Book of Questions.
The questions were great conversation starters, and should be able to do the same for a writer.

the one I remember is there, called The Book of Questions, author Gregory Stock
another is listed there that looks interesting as well: The Complete Book Book of Questions by Garry Poole.

If you don't want to buy them, the local library may have them to borrow.

Gatsby has, for a long long time, chased after the "American Dream". He wanted money and power and although he did achieve this, evident by his lavish lifestyle and huge parties, he was never truly happy because he didnt' have Daisy. And he didn't just want Daisy, he wanted the Daisy from 5 years before. He wanted the Daisy who never knew Tom and never had a daughter. He did achieve the materialistic lifestyle he had dreamed of, but to him it almosy meant nothing without Daisy there with him. This proves that accomplishing this dream didn't produce the fullfilment he thought it would.
