Fun Writing Ideas

Bernard Said:

Yearbook copy ideas. The writing in them, not just the pics! Please help me with fun, new, and creative ideas!

We Answered:

Add extras that people wouldn't expect. Like a style section (what was popular at the time) - also you can add a movie, music, internet, etc. I would personally love to look back at my yearbooks and remember what was going on back then. Good luck. And congrats on being yearbook editor!

Ideas for short, fun writing challenges?

We Answered:

One that I found quite helpful was to write about characters that wore suits. You had to specifically mention the suits and describe them a little. The first character I did conformed with this, but as I got further into it I had several other characters evolve until I was completely off the original writing challenge and starting my own little "Office" scenario.

Here are the first three I wrote: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;…

Can someone help on writing a short scene or play, any fun ideas?

We Answered:

Write from your own experience. Get used to writing dialogue too.

1. Write down a few lines of a real conversation that you overheard. Write them down exactly the way you heard them, and get a few friends to act it out, just as an exercise.

2. Read a few good plays and think about the structure and style.

3. Think of your piece as just a scene, just a conversation that begins, has an argument or rising action, and then when you're ready, bring it to its natural end.

4. Don't try to make it anything like films you've seen. Make it about your life, about the lives in your own community.

help me write, suggested topics/ideas for some fun writing?

We Answered:

How about writing your books like you're watching a movie?

It works for me. :0)

Most of what I read in the mainstream is awfully two-dimensional--with little depth perception whatsoever.

(Drives me *nuts*.)

So when I start out writing, I think along the same lines as a movie--directing and observing what I see (sometimes), and writing what is taking place before my eyes.

Now--of course--keep in mind: If you're *planning* on getting published mainstream, this writing approach won't work.

They like safe, saleable novels. Things which are familiar to them.

Rarely, do they go out on a limb and accept someone whom is both isolated from the mainstream industry and writes OUTSIDE the box. (Like me--for example.)

I need help on writing a short scene or play, any fun ideas?

We Answered:

A dialogue between two old persons. They don´t undestand each other, but they think they do. Each one is talking about his own stuff, but they both end up feeling happy, comunication needs two people, but not two people dealing with the same matters.
