Make up a color, and describe it.

It shows creativity, and it shows how difficult it is to describe a color that has not already been "invented".

Basically, it's asking you to pick someone you think is worthy of admiration. It could be a movie star, a politician, a singer in your favorite band, or any of a number of other things. It helps to explain why you admire the person and what it is that they do that you think makes them deserving of this. Did they start a charity that helps children in Africa? Do they campaign for better standards of education in disadvantaged areas of the United States? Just pick a few people who you think do good things, and look their names up online. If you need help finding information, you can always talk to the librarian at your school.

As far as length, as a freshman I was typically expected to have about a page, sometimes two pages, but definitely talk to your teacher as soon as you can to find out.

A good topic to write an English Journal on would be a vacation that you went on because you can make some parts up that you may have forgot. Also you could write a journal on a book you have read.
