Daily Writing Prompts For Kids

Vicki Said:

When did this hands off approach to parenting become the norm?

We Answered:

I get what you were saying and yes, I think there are books that teach new parents that this is okay...these are the ones that tell them that formula is just as good or even better than breastfeeding and encourage the CIO method. Argh!
I stay at home with my four year old son. He is not in preschool but has several structured activities each day at the Y where I can leave him and concentrate on me for 45 minutes in the gym. If I want to shop by myself I will do it when my husband is home. I have barely had to grocery shop with the kids because my husband is more than willing to do it. My son comes with me to doctors appointments if I can't schedule them when my husband has time off. We pack several toys to keep him occupied and he's fine and out of the way. We have not had a 'date night' since he was born.
This may sound like H3!! to some people but for us it is sheer bliss. Our son took 8 years to join our family and he will no longer be a child in too few years and we want to soak up as much of that time as we can get. I've had many years of me time and many years of couple time. Now, it is his time...our time will come again when he goes to college.
However, I don't think there is anything wrong with her having her daughter stay in her room for a while for quiet time. If the child is no longer napping it does benefit her as well as her mother to get her own quiet time during the day just to recharge.
