Writing Exercise - Formal/Narrative?

We Answered:

If it's for an education in a creative writing program, you can use a creative writing approach, with literary diction and such.

However, if it's NOT for a creative writing program, then stick to the formal essay approach. I reckon they are asking to read a personal essay to see if you have what it takes to study there. Do not use informal diction. Just open with a thesis statement mentioning the experience and its impact, and then elaborate the two in your next paragraphs, and then close with a brief conclusion. That will be the same format as a personal essay.

I only read other people's university application essays written in prosy, informal tone when they applied for a creative writing major, but not for other programs.

i need a scenario for a short story?

We Answered:

you could create a female character who is obsessed with boys but never gets to hang out with any because she's at an all girls school. you could talk about how she gets into trouble for sneaking out at night to find some guys to party with or something. hope this helps.

For those who are extremely individualistic/ nonconformist and love art... please help me with my dilemma…?

We Answered:

Okay I definitely agree with you. I believe strongly in creativity and uniqueness but there's something you're forgetting about school. School is the only place where it is acceptable to be a dictatorship. In this case the principal is the dictator and the students are the people that have to follow mindlessly along. Fortunately there are the rare people like you that realize what a bunch of bull that is, but the matter of fact is that there is basically nothing that can change a dictator. Every student must follow these crazy conformist ideas. For the time being just go along with this madness and try to be as creative as possible in doing so. Don't worry though, when you go out into the "real world" you will soon find the people like you that dare to be different are the ones that will shine above the rest.
