Creative Writing Skills

Emma Said:

Anyone with any creative writing skills want to help me write a letter?

We Answered:

Try posting your request in Words & Wordplay. Most of Y!A's writers hang out there.

Mitchell Said:

I write well but don't have creative writing experience. Can I write a screenplay?

We Answered:

As a fellow writer, novelist and screenwriter, I say go for it!!!
You don't really need any credentials to be able to write. Or a movie for that matter. As long as you can envision something on the big screen and you feel that you can have a loyal audience, then you will be very successful.
I am part of two awesome writing communities that have helped me out tremendously because of the feedback, comments and friends that I've made.
www.urbis.com Anything you can think of to write is possible here: short stories, scripts, novels, poetry, etc. I prefer this the most because of all of the options.

www.zhura.com This is centered around screenwriting. I like it, but I don't particularly like the structure and the moderation of this site, but the feedback is still nice.

Email me with any questions or concerns. Anytime you would like feedback, let me know!!!

peace

Janice Said:

Which major would I gain more writing skills in... (Creative writing or Jornalism?)?

We Answered:

Well, they are both different type of writing.
Creative writing consists of more thinking "outside the box" using ideas.. and of that nature..
Journalism- is also different--- writing news stories and of that sort..
Depending on what kind of writer you are- decide what type of writing skill you want to develop.
I would choose creative writing as a starting point though---
and then do journalism if you had the option of doing both.

Let your creative writing skills shine! Come on in!?

And he had no friends. He was a very lonely panther, and so longed to have a good friend. One day while he was walking through the forest/jungle alone, he saw a little mouse, who was lost and all alone as well. He went over to scare the little mouse, but the little mouse wasnt scared, and asked him what he was trying to do. 'Im trying to scare you little mouse' said the fang.
'Its not working' said the mouse.
The Fang, stopped trying to scare the little mouse or anythng else ever again. He and the little mouse became friends, and lived happily ever after.

2 weeks later poachers came for the fang. He is now a rug, and the little mouse is now a mantlepiece ornament

Rick Said:

Does being good in creative writing realy help with conversation skills?

We Answered:

I think that it is just the reverse. Excellent conversation skills help you become a better writer. What practicing your writing skills may do, is to hone your reasoning capacity and your ability to speak more logically and with greater precision. But good conversations depend a lot on your ability to be witty and to understand what different people want to hear. This can only be learned through years of dealing with people and by never shying away from talking to everyone and anyone.
