Creative Writing Programs

Willie Said:

What colleges offer good creative writing programs?

We Answered:

As you might already know, most top schools do not have a specific major (or even minor) in creative writing, so you will have to major in English and then take creative writing classes. Most top colleges have good English programs; however, there are some that are widely regarded as the best. These are:
Johns Hopkins
Kenyon
Sarah Lawrence
Middlebury
Amherst

These colleges have Creative Writing as a major, and they are the best schools out of those with that major:
Bard
Bennington
Brandeis
Columbia (also very good for English in general)
Emerson
Emory
Hamilton
Northwestern University
Oberlin
USC

Of those, the best are Columbia, Northwestern, Oberlin, and Bard.
Of ALL of those, the best ones are, without a doubt, Johns Hopkins (best of the best), Kenyon (also best of the best), Oberlin, Amherst, and Sarah Lawrence
