Creative Writing For Children

Edith Said:

Describe how a father beats up their daughter in child abuse for creative writing?

We Answered:

You have to make sure of what you convey here. That the scene is not just some gratuitous violence written for chock value. It needs a purpose and a good reason to be like.

Stephen Said:

Writing books for children?

We Answered:

Well, children's stories have to be short, understandable, and always, always have some moral that teaches the children good citizen behavior.

Short: if it's very young, do a few sentences a page. Usually a children's story is more revolved around illustrations than anything else. Make everything short and simple, as if you were talking to the kid.

Understandable: no big words, obviously, and use objects and places they can relate to. I always think of the train that could story, because when I was little I loved playing with trains so I liked that book better.

Moral lesson: they always have to have an inspiration, upbeat attitude; no dark or dreary stories for children. Go with something generic like "if you try you will succeed" or "don't give up on yourself" "don't steal" "sharing is caring" all that wonderful stuff.

To start this, I'd come up with the moral lesson and the characters. From that, you try to figure how to make the characters achieve this lesson. That's how you find your plot. Then, write it!

Hope this helps :)

PS And if you can somehow make it rhyme, that just makes it so much more fun for kids :P
