Let tell you something that I tell lots people you need to go find some inspiration for song writing, I know that can be the hardest part to writing. Were can you find this, your own life, for example are you in a relationship, do you have a crush, or have been in any recent break ups. How your relationship with you parents, look at the people in your life, whats going on with them. Read a newspaper, watch a tv show or movie. Go find the inspiration, it won't just walk up to you, and bring this up cause that were all songs come from or most. One of the best things to writing is writing songs people can relate to. Btw you take a class but I'm sure you can have creative mind, explore it. Songwriting takes time, I wrote lyrics that took me weeks to finish, as I type this I'm working on some that I started a week ago, to me I want this one lyrics to be good so I'm taking my time. Do the same, don't rush writing. One final note, nope there should be some rhyme remember its a song, the brother of poems. But also remember its art, it can also be math pattern, when you try to get rhymes try different patterns, for example

a I miss you
b are you there
b do you care
a I am too

as you know the a's and b's rhyme with each but I know you understand but there's a pattern, a b b a. Try others a a b b, a b b c. Play around with it, also try a thesaurus the most useful tool, you can learn new words and find some new rhymes.

Well hope this helps, again you can try a class its up to you, but we all have a creative part to ourselfs, thats why you want to write.
