Need help understanding my college writing prompt...?We Answered:
Sounds like your prof wants you to talk about things like the moral choices people might have to make when conducting interrogations of people suspected of terrorism activities, or telecom companies turning over a suspect's emails or text messages. What if a person doesn't want to turn over a person's emails to a law officer w/o some better proof than just a claim that the suspect might be involved in something. That person might go to jail, etc. Are there parallels?Edgar Said:
What does this College Application writing prompt mean?We Answered:
I think it's acceptable, but it's obvious. You'll want to stay away from the obvious.I, personally, would look at it from the relationship angle.
But then again, if you can answer the question in a creative way, I don't think it matters as much what your actual answer is. Does that make sense? All the colleges want to hear about *you* and what you think, so it's not as if they're looking for something that's really *different* in content. It's mostly the way you write essay, which could be why they left it so vague.
I'm afraid that didn't help. I'm sorry if it didn't!

I'm writing my personal statement for college... so what are some good prompts or thesis statements? We Answered:
whatever you do pick , you want to be able to stand out. Think about your leadership statement, and think about how many other students might write about this same topic. You want to wow, the reader so although this isn't a bad start, it does tend to be a little generic however, you can write something that would put personal style and taste to this.Example: I watch a documentary on TV not to long ago about a meth out crack whore that was in and out of jail for nearly 15 years of her adult life. She then got a degree in prison in Criminal Justice where she received a 4.0 GPA got into a Harvard School of Law on a full ride scholarship due to her personal statement were she spoke about her struggles in life that was the key to her success... She not only got in didn't pay for it, and now works for some huge law firm making crazy money!
I'm not saying to become a whore or smoke meth and get arrested then change your life, but think outside the box when writing this and see if you can come up with something that is going to "WOW' every reader. Again, the topic you have now just finding out how to make it sound better than every typical leadership statement paper.

I need help writing my college essay? We Answered:
Show through your writing some of the different backgrounds and experiences about which they are speaking. Then throw yourself into the mix. For example. "Rutgers University is such a diverse community that while you are taking classes in calculus, your roommate will be studying the romantic lives of sea turtles..." and so on. Then, "I find I fit in best in the area of........"
