How much might I get paid for working from home writing articles for Guns and Ammo magazine? We Answered:
I don't know about Guns & Ammo specifically, but I have had a few articles published in a couple of gun magazines. Some pay a set rate per article and some pay by the word. An average length article usually comes out to around $200 to $300. You are paid upon publication which can be several months after your article is accepted. The "big name" writers are often under a contract for a set number of articles and get more per article. You should contact the editor of the magazine before you start writing as most of the magazines have their own style guide that will tell you what format the article should be submitted in, grammer and writing style guidelines, article length requirements, and photo requirements. They will also tell you what topics they are looking for. Some magazines have you send them a summery of what you will be writing about for approval before you send them the article. Best to get that approval before you start writing.
