Mathew Said:

hi. i'm feeling overwhelemed...moved, changed jobs, stopped writing, getting married...help!!!?

We Answered:

You have 2 choices. Stop living in the past or not? Do you really want your old life back? If not imbrace the new and bright future. In the mean time RELAX! Take some me time. Good Luck:)

Aaron Said:

What are some jobs that don't allow you to spend much time with your family?

Jeremy Said:

Can anyone help in directing me on where to search/look for a job in journalism/writing NYC?

We Answered:

There's also another really good Web site to look out for people straight out of college.

http://www.ed2010.com

It has job listings and internship listings, as well as the people you need to contact to get into the business. The majority of the ads are in LA or NYC, so you should be able to find what you're looking for.

If not there, you can also check:

Good luck!

Vincent Said:

How much is an apartment in NYC?

We Answered:

The Bronx, Queens and Brooklyn - those are all BIG places. Some parts are great. Some are lousy.

It really is a trade off, between what kind of neighborhood you're looking for, how much you can afford to spend, how close you want to live to the center of it all, how much room you want (let's put that another way - how LITTLE room can you put up with), whether you can deal with roommates. and how far you're willing to travel to work or school.

I live in Park Slope, Brooklyn. When I came here over 25 years ago, it wasn't yet that expensive. Today, the prices are like Manhattan prices, or almost, anyway. But it's a great place to live. I moved out here when it wasn't that convenient yet, but it was cheap and lovely. Today, it's more convenient (more things have come out here) and it's expensive, but it's still lovely. You have to decide what you are looking for.

Does anyone know about the NYC government job interview and writing test?

We Answered:

NYC government is very large and there are many different jobs and consequently many different tests for them.

Contact the NYC Civil Service Commission for details./

Nina Said:

Need ideas for jobs of characters of a story?

We Answered:

Bear in mind that you don't have to have stated jobs for all characters. If the job isn't part of the story then why mention it in detail? There can be references to working, even, without saying what the work is.

The job could be an extra something for the reader to wonder about - the answer coming later.

You could write what you NEED to - a job that pays well for working at home and just go with that. During writing, yoru characters and/or plot should tell you what the job is. If not, then we're back to the fact that it's not necessarily part of the story so don't say it.

Many jobs fit the bill. Some are relatively ordinary, some might compliment your story, some might help youe story have interesting perspectives. An unusual job could add interest and, perhaps, contrast.

Jobs from home include:
* Novelist!
* Journalist
* Prostitute
* Sex-line worker
* Stockmarket trader
* Drug dealer
