Hi ,can i share my view ,though i m not a girl . You r right dear ,so is the girl as well .
she is not asking you to chat with her father ,she wants you to approach her family n seek the permission of her father to communicate .That is very Indian of her .In fact you should also keep in loop ur parents as well .Once ,both families ,r agreeing on most of major issues ,then i would advise you to stick to ur views of knowing each other as much as possible by communicating,before taking any decision. communication should preferably be in three phases ,first : just emails to learn basics ,when basics r accepted to both of you ,then can switch to chatting ( because its instantaneous) telephone conversation should only be done when you have almost made up ur mind ,this may take quite some time ,but let me assure you ,all this is very important as this is the most important decision of ur life .Good luck.
