Constance Said:
hello i got a question about legal transcriptionists? We Answered:
All I can tell you is of my experience as a transcriptionist. This happened in the 1980s, so it might all be different now. But at that time -- driven by desperation, as you would recognize -- I got a job as a transcriptionist for a federal agency which heard court-type cases. Much to my utter amazement, this job did not require typing OR shorthand! I was given a recorder, a reasonably useless lecture on how to operate it, and sent off to the courtroom. OMG, I thought, they totally do not care how accurate this is! Well, I recorded the best I could, and other employees typed whatever gibberish I managed to record...the pay was even lower for the typists than for us "recorders;" as I recall it was exactly what I would have been making in a secretarial job (can't recall the exact amount, but it was not any big bonanza, for sure.)What else I know is that when I was a newspaper reporter covering court cases, the person doing the transcription used a stenotype machine. _That_ is a real profession, about which I don't know any more.
Hope it works out for you.
At the same time, and because the "recorder" job was so low pay, I got another job. This one was really weird. Some guy sold transcriptions of the Sunday a.m. "talking heads" shows. I and a couple of others were to look at these shows and write down what they said. No recorder here -- we were on our own with shorthand or fast typing.
This job wasn't too bad.
I sure hope you get something like what you are seeking. Good luck!

Are recent engineering grads being hired right now?We Answered:
I am BSME and I can tell you this with out ground floor experience you will have a difficult time securing any ME positions, so set your sights lower and do some grunt work before you believe you can step in and be an engineer
