Note the hypocrisy of both the ANC and Castro, as they talk about his role in 'liberating' South Africa, whilst his own people have been prisoners on his island for almost half a century. As for this idiot MJ, that apparently said that all third world countries should follow Castro's shining example - it's because they followed his shining example that they are now third world countries.

UJ, Wits and Rhodes all have good journalism courses that you can look into. But the beauty of being in a creative field is that you can in fact study whatever you want as long as you are talented and are willing to work.

The magazine industry is not very big in SA so you need to be very good at what you do and be willing to promote yourself. While you are studying get as much experience as you can, offer to work at your local paper if you have to.

There are many positions available it all depends on what you are interested in and what you are good at. Writing, layout and design, photography, graphics, editing, copy editing etc Are all options you could consider. For a better idea of positions read the list near the front of the magazine of all the people who worked on it.

It's clear that all South Africans agree on this.
One would expect this: Country with most violent crime + most heavily taxed country = huge expansion of police force + building many new prisons.
Neither of these happen. If anything the police force was REDUCED last year by closing down two of the most SUCCESSFUL units. It has often been proposed to use prison labour to build new prisons, but the anc feels that would violate the rights of the murderers and rapists. They are, after all, anc voters in the next election...
The general argument is that tax from the "rich" (middle class by Western standards) have to go to the poor. I doubt whether the poor see much of that money after the whole beaurocracy, all the way from the pres and his R90 million wall to the 22 year old anc mayor of your town with his new Merc, has taken their cut.
These anc idiots won't listen to any constructive, logical and sensible arguments. The only hope for SA is to fire them at the next election on grounds of incompetence.

Positive because: huge economic benefit. hundreds of thousands of tourists, jobs created. new infrastructure, modernizes a city. chance to show the world a great country. first african nation to host the 'world game'

Negative because: huge financial costs,if something goes wrong it reflects on the country. huge time pressures to build stadiums and infrastructure. Locals are unhappy because they lose huge funding. south africa known for crime

I could go on and on... just think about it as a theatrical production. A heap of work and planning and money goes into the project (negatives) but heaps of people watch it and if it goes well it reflects good on the performers/company (positive) and brings in a lot of money
