Writing Careers Jobs
Arnold Said:
What careers/jobs would I get if I get a associate degree in Creative Writing? We Answered:
That degree will not help you get any job. Neither will a higher degree in that field.Choose a field which will lead to a job. Business and health care come to mind.
Gene Said:
What are the best jobs I can get to support my writing careers? We Answered:
Dude, I'm in the same boat as you, I'm just a few steps behind. I'm an aspiring writer who is in college trying to get a degree for a decent job that would support my #1 dream. I'm now a Business Admin. major but I'm still unsure of what I want to do. And I even thought of teaching, but...I think that being a teacher is a great career but it's not a breezy one. I don't think that there's such a thing as a breezy career that pays well. And every employer is going to expect you to give a 110% to the job especially in times like these, and if someone comes along and applies as if it's a second choice they're going to see through that. You know that writing is your thing, but you'll have to come to terms with the fact that you'll be spending more time at your job than anywhere else, whether you like it or not it will be your #1 commitment. If you know that you want to teach, teach. It's hard but if that's what you want to do then you should do it. If you love writing and teaching enough, you'll figure out how to make them fit into your life, and you'll always be happy.
So why am I a not gonna be a teacher? Because I'm not great with kids, I do have an imagination but I can't stand repeating myself and I'd lose patience in a minute. Pretty much everything you can do. But in my perspective If you need other people to think of a job that's better than the job you know you like (teaching, or why not full-time writing?) then that job probably doesn't exist, and you already know what your calling is.
Best of luck
