Writing As A Career
Jesse Said:
Considering writing as a career? We Answered:
Well if your question is anything to go on, you do have a writing talent. You come to the point. You are exceptionally good at grammer for a 13 year old considering what I've seen on this site for the past few years... at least you can spell and use proper word and punctuation which I haven't seen in tons of other teenagers older than you are and even some adults. You have no problem stating things that is for sure so the real question for you is not whether you are talented enough but whether you want to and think that writing will profit enough for you to be at it full time and bring in an income. Royalties are not so well with any type of carreer as that. I know because I'm a poet and author and a member of the International Library of Poets and you have to write dozens of articles and poems and publish mega books just to get pennies off of it. So I do think if you want to pursue it that going into the media part would be a good place to start. As a writer for a newspaper or magazine you would get prestigue and a paycheck at the same time. Then if you branch off on your own it will be due to you already having a clientel behind you that likes what you do. On the side you could still publish your own works as long as you get that in a contract with your place of employment but I would pursue whatever you feel led to do. When we go after our dreams that usually puts us on the road to success. Start now by writing some articles even at your age and submit them to magazines.. or a story. I can't remember the name of it now but awhile ago there was a boy who wrote a story while he was in the hospital getting cancer treatments. He based it on his life but put it into 'knights and dragons' idea I believe. Anyway, Disney got ahold of it and made a movie off of it that was a huge success. There was another boy that had an idea called 'pay it forward' and he ended up getting his idea into a movie as well and the idea has gone around the world it is such a good idea. You can be famous at any age if you have the willpower to go for your dreams. Good luck.Rene Said:

Does anyone think there's a way to combine music performance and writing as a career? We Answered:
How about musical theatre...?You can either write songs or whatsoever, and play violin in the music band, as its up to you to divide your time between both.

Anyone fellow writers here wanting to do writing as a career? We Answered:
For awhile, I didn't think about it. I always wrote in a journal because of its therapeutic values, especially during emotional traumas (I'd imagined my arm as a funnel transferring my negative thoughts through the ink and on to the page. That way, the dark emotional energy stains the paper instead of my heart). Now, I am a freelance writer and editor, and am producing a magazine for imaginative writers.
The fact that my private thoughts--when written--can influence the emotions, and/or attitudes, of readers everywhere is phenomenal!
Words are warehouses packed with power, are't they?

How Good is Writing as a Career? We Answered:
There are no guarantees - especially in writing - it's all market driven.Do you love all aspects of writing or just creative? Technical writers can make some good cash - you need experience in a particular field so you are familiar with the jargon (medical or IT, for example) but if you don't mind it, it's good.
Also, webmasters can do a lot of writing - you need to hook yourself up with web design etc to secure that area.

Pursuing writing as a career.?We Answered:
Well going to college to study journalism would help get you started in newspapers and magazines. If it's also stories you would like to be writing then you need a great idea to get that started.Just a baby step at a time. All you need is a pencil, a paper, and a great head on your shoulders and im sure everything will work out just fine for you.
Try your best but don't rush yourself. If this is just a spir-of-the-moment-idea than do some research and really think if it's worth your time. Does it just sound fun now? Or will it be a dead thought by next week?
Hope you see what your going for. Good Luck
=)
