That's a little far fetched...

A site has to exist for a reason, and that reason, when it comes to helping designers, is money. They will ALWAYS take some sort of commission.

The only way around it is to find the freelance work without the help of a website. Not always the easiest, but it's the only way you'll get around fees.

I do the same work you are doing and let me tell you this: you need to network and advertise. If you have a Web site of your own this will also help you out.

You need to do some of your own legwork to find companies needing a freelance copywriter. Try advertising your services on Craigslist for a start. Another option is to scout out small local business who may need assistance with writing copy for their Web sites or other business literature but cannot afford to hire an agency or more expensive copywriter.

This is not easy work nor is it too profitable, especially in the economy we are in. You need to be able to offer quality services that are affordable to your client.

I cannot offer you any companies seeking writers since I am presently looking for work of my own.

It comes down to advertising, networking, and scouting. The work doesn't come to you, you have to find it.

Good luck seams a lot of companies are prone to outsource their work to India, which really is upsetting because everytime any company I worked at got these drawings back we ended up having to fix them which makes the point of having someone drawing them null

So to answer your question I would post out some resumes for temp work and mention the above why you wont suck at it.

CRAIGSLIST is your best bet. You can also go on those bidding sites like scriptlance or something but then it'd be cheap work since you're bidding against chinese/indians/russians. Stick to craigslist, build a resume and you will be fine. I would like to say that there is a huge market for web development... seems like everybody nowadays wants to be the next big social site.
