Pay varies from one company to the other. Some pay per assignment. Some per article, some per minimum of words, some per page.

Assignments come in batches. Like 5 articles, minimum of 500 words each expected to be submitted within 24 hours, P400/article. Don't expect an assignment to be bought right away. Sometimes, only one or two out of those five articles are bought. Sometimes, not even one.

A web writer writes an article for a website for various reasons. Advertising, promotion, information, or they could make you write about something to direct the reader to their site. Most times, the byline on the article isn't yours. You'll either use a different name (I have a girl friend who uses a guy's name) or no name at all. Just a filler to the site who hires your writing expertise.

There are a lot of sites that hire web content writers. US companies usually pay through paypal because they'll pay you in dollars. When you're employed by a Philippine outsourcing company, the currency the company is paying you is already converted into peso.

It's a great job if you're a writer and you're patient. The worst enemy of a web content writer is Mental Block and no internet connection =)

2. On-demand Model - e.g. Write good and quality articles, allow download-on-demand for the article in PDF, ask people to pay-per-download

A good place to look is craigslist.org. You can just start looking for freelance writing gigs that consist of writing articles (this is how I started). Another great place to look into is a website called Demand Studios. Just fill out the application in the "source" section of this answer. That said, rentacoder advises buyers to be careful buying articles outside the USA.

Why?
