Volunteer Writing Jobs

Eleanor Said:

what to write in a volunteer resume?

We Answered:

its good to write your previous jobs because of the things you learn from them, eg. customer service, team work, leadership, independence, confidence etc. also add a bit about yourself like hobbies, do a cover letter explaining why you are interested in volunteering and why you would contribute well in working for the corporation.

Jim Said:

My friend needs advice on writing an e-mail for a volunteer job?

We Answered:

Your friend should write the e-mail saying stuff abt how much she wants to do this job and also write down that she will do her best. In other words, just go with the flow~

Terri Said:

I'm applying for a volunteer job at my local hospital, What should I add in the email/letter?

We Answered:

Okay, to my knowledge, or at least in my very health-care competitive area of Sioux Falls, SD, hospitals don't really DO volunteer jobs of the nature you sound interested in. My sister volunteered for the cancer society after she was cured, but that was a bunch of Word documents and such, if you really want a taste of the hospitable, want to be beneficial, and wouldn't mind getting paid, apply for a tray job in the cafeteria or something, you will get to take trays up to patients, wear scrubs, stuff like that.

Nelson Said:

How do volunteer jobs feel about no previous experience?

We Answered:

Volunteers make the world go round!

I have volunteered for many different non-profit agencies throughout the years; I have always been trained. I've worked in quite a few shelters, and they all have their rules on how and when to do things.

Volunteers do not get paid in cash, but they EARN experience, and an education in return.

Volunteers are expected to arrive on time, and to come to work on days assigned; they count on you just as if you were a payroll employee.

Volunteers get trained on the job they will be doing.

I always keep a journal, and write down the name, address, and phone number for the agency. I also write down day I started, the name of the supervisor, and the days and hours (schedule) I will work.
It doesn't matter how menial, how dirty, how boring the job is, it needs to be done. Dogs and kitties at shelters are always very appreciative their area is clean. Pets have clean water, and taking a walk with a volunteer is rather special.
