The thing with your ex - you could have used the amount of time and effort you put in to justify a right to a percentage of his earnings after separation. Speak to your solicitor about it, I believe there is precedent.

Employers, for the most part, want someone who they can mould into what they want, so prefer young people. Also, the current idiotic obsession with paper qualifications sidelines those with genuine knowledge and experience if they can't prove it.

I'm honestly not sure if the new legal measures will make a damn bit of difference - all people have to do is not mention age, and they're in the clear.
