I got this paper to write for sports marketing about all the jobs to do with sports I picked owner? We Answered:
This is an interesting project, especially with the role of an owner. I recommend looking at different types of owners to get good information.Owners run from individuals (aka George Steinbrenner, Mark Cuban) to large corporations (AOL Time Warner - Atlanta Braves). Major League Baseball even owns a team - the Expos.
I recommend researching some different owners and looking at their different backgrounds/paths/experiences. I would pick some owners of different sports and who have very different backgrounds/owner styles.
Some ideas - Bill Bidwill, George Steinbrenner, The Maloof Brothers, Mark Cuban, Jerry Jones. This is a diverse sampling and could get you some interesting ideas.
Hope this helped!
Here are a few resources that may be helpful.
Major League Owners - this chart lists each owners profit as well so you can get an idea of "salary."

This is an interesting site because it shows each owners net worth and the team's value. This shows kind of how much money people/corporations need to become owners (qualifications).

How do I get a job in sports writing? We Answered:
You can start blogging about sports now. When you apply for a real sports writing job, you can include your blog in the resume. If it's a good blog that attracts a lot of visitors, your future employers could be pretty impressed and give you some extra points. A lot of writers start their career that way.Zachary Said:
How to get paid blogging or writing about sports? We Answered:
I think writing about 'sports' would be too general a niche. He would be better to write about a particular sport like tennis or bowling or...Could he teach/show some how to improve a particular sport. If so, he could create his own product to sell.
Or he could sell sports equipment associated with the sport he is blogging about.
My free multi-media blogging course may help: http://www.incomebloggingguide.com/
Hope that helps.

Any legit freelance sports writing jobs out there? We Answered:
Yes, but the competition is tough. Write your best article and send it off to all the major publications. You have to sign a form that says that you understand their corporate policies. You agree not to "borrow" other writers' work. You understand that you are "freelance" so you don't get any benefits like a true employee. Also apply at ESPN as a writer. Everyone wants to be in front of the camera. You can apply to be in the background.

how hard is it to become a sports writer? We Answered:
It's not that difficult. Just be knowledgeable about sports. Know your current facts and issues, know your historical facts and issues and know the rules of the sports you are covering.WHen I was a sports writer, this is what I learned.
Always be up to date with results and issues such as drug use and match fixing. It would be great to even know how sport is affected by globalisation. That would give you an edge and provide new angles in writing sports stories.
Also, sports writing allows you to be creative, unlike hard news and current events writing. You can use imaginative terms and imagery to tell a sports story. Remember, be humorous, the best sports stories have tasteful satire.
History will always provide that bit of insight into a sport and how it has evolved to what it is now and also provides context for a story.
Another good thing would be to know the sports that are less popular in your country. It's a bonus for you and would show that you're a sports enthusiast and are not taking the job just for the money.
For instance, where I'm from - South Africa - some papers wanted to take me on because I knew about other sports (such as field hockey and boxing) other than Soccer, Rugby and Cricket. If you're from the US, then it would be a bonus if you're knowledgable about Soccer, Rugby and Cricket. However, knowing the obscure sports is only a bonus for the editor as they would seldomly publish these stories. It is better to be thoroughly knowledgeable about the main sports in your country.
As every journalist knows, it is essential to have lots of contacts. Gain a lot of contacts and you will have access to numerous stories that others may not be able to get, which can make you a leading sports writer.

Where can I get a job writing sports for pay?We Answered:
Nowadays, unless you have a degree in journalism your chances of landing a writing job with a major daily newspaper are fairly slim, however, you could submit `tearsheets' of your work (from the Stuttgart Daily Leader) to other newspapers and magazines and ask for assignments.
