Im no expert on this but Im failry sure the worse the crime the less rights or priviledges you have.

Paris Hilton was just scentenced to 45 days and was told she would have no priviledges...(I think they were trying to make an example out of her for being a repeat offender)

For a definate YES prisoners can change their lives and write and get degrees while in prison. The system does this because there is no point locking them up and then having them get out and be the same person as before.

Studying etc.. in prison helps them acheive goals or dreams, encourages them within themselves that they are not really bad at all (they just chose to be) and can do positive things and make a difference in their lives just like anyone else. it gives them hope and asperation, and a will to succeed and do better.

I do not beleive that they have access to their accounts/money while they are in there. I know people on the dole do not receive payments while they are behind bars. They are allocated an amount of money each week (maybe $20) which they can buy smokes and things from inside the prison...

AN inmate can definately gain from activities behind bars, but bear in mind that these activities are not designed to give the person a free ride or an easy time, they are designed to help them be better and have a positive future and make them feel worthwhile.

They can also access internet but I HIGHLY doubt it would be continuous and it is probably monitored also.

The worse your sentence is the less things you get and are allowed to do.

The worst of cases may be locked in a tiny cell with nothing but a bed and toilet and are only allowed out for a an hour per day.

The lesser cases may be allowed to wander around all day...
