Medical Writing Freelance Jobs

Jason Said:

What career would fit this personality type?

We Answered:

I used my communications degree to be a Technical Writer. This lead to some customer service jobs where I was analyze techincal data and make recommendations for the department direction.

Communications is a great way to springboard into some other careers. I am amazed at how poorly the people around me write. Being able to analyze information and communicate the findings is needed at all levels of the company.

I would keep the degree and maybe add a minor in business.

Good luck.

Please help, my life is crumbling all around me and I need some help.?

We Answered:

Well, Paul it is never too late to start again or rebuild what you have with you. But first you will need to either let go of the past or find your own ways to heal the relationships that you feel shortchanged on.

You will have to focus on clearing the debts first. For that if you have to fall back on the trade you know, then so be it. That is the only realistic way out. Don't we all have financial problems and pick one among the options in front of us no matter how we feel about it? That's simply our sense of responsibility, towards others and towards ourselves.

At the end of the day, what we all want is to be loved and cherished and understood.

Edit: Paul, it is good that you want to reach out to others who have gone through perhaps worse situations than what you have. But be aware that it is a very tough job and you need to be very well trained and emotionally very tough to handle such a responsibility. Any weakness here and you might end up carrying other's ghosts home to yourself. But yes, your nursing background does give you an advantage. You have already been there for others in pain.

Please help, my life has taken a bad turn and I can't seem to get out of it.?

We Answered:

I actually read it all despite my tiredness. I'm going to be fairly critical so take no offense.

It's coming onto Christmas and I'm sure you would like to get presents for your children and friends. It is hard to go back to a job you have done for many years but your persistence in acquiring the accreditation is one of great fortitude despite the obstacles put in your way.

There are plenty of jobs in respite or nursing homes, even part-time or casual jobs. You need to continue working, even just long enough to buy the things you want for your next job.

I know a few people who work in hospices for terminally ill people and though it is a good job, it;s also a lousy job. Their persistence in wanting to help others, despite the draining effect it has on them, is commendable.

The last thing you want is to be washing dishes or peeling potatoes for $6 per hour. Get a job, and work to save money, and to pay off debts outstanding. Do a night course in your preferred option, perhaps photography or journalism, or tarot reading or whatever. Get the Certificate after the course. Then start looking for an extra job on top of the one you have, when you get it.

Jobs are not easy to get after 35 years of age. Nursing is about the only job that is still hiring over 35 year old people. It's the type of job that is wide and varied and you can apply yourself in various parts of ahospital or ward. Even morgue work if you no longer want to bother with the living.

You have come a long way since the bullying and you have survived other harrowing events as well that would put other lesser people in those places where you have worked previously.

By the time a person is 40, they are expected to have qualifications and years of experience. Starting all over again is something you cannot afford to do, just yet. You will have to use that fortitude once more to give you strength to go back to the only job that will hire you - nursing.

I am stuck, can anyone help. My life is going downhill.?

We Answered:

A sad story indeed, the way you write, it does sound like you could be an author, perhaps write an autobiography, but I agree that the chances of you making a good profit are pretty slim, not because you aren't good, but it's just means to actually publish and advertise it ya know? Throughout my life I have tried to go with the motto do whatever makes you truly happy, but the way I read it, you HAVE to get money right now, so whatever job you can find, I think you should take for now, even if you may hate it, although if there is one that you do happen to enjoy, all the better right? I think for now you should take a job doing whatever and write a book in your spare time, one that will sell, it may not necessarily be one that you even like to write about, but one that will get you some Cash, and seriously find a publisher... Here's hoping for your luck to change.

A Question for/about Freelance Writers! Help please?

We Answered:

I have writer friends who made a decent living writing for magazines such as True Confession. Smaller magazines with niche markets are open to submissions. Look for the magazine, study what is contained in it, then ask them to send you their guidelines for submission. If your writing is good enough, they will accept you with or without a college degree.
