Legal Writing Teaching Jobs

Charlie Said:

Do you agree that home schooling has proved beneficial for many? Do you know many have had better results too?

We Answered:

Yes, I agree that homeschooling is beneficial! I think that most, if not all, students would excel if they were taught at home by dedicated parents.

My children are homeschooled, so I personally see the benefits every day. We know many other homeschoolers who have just as much success.

Thelma Said:

Independent contract tutor. Is this job legal?

We Answered:

Write up your own contract including the information they gave you and send it to them to sign. Never do independent/freelance work without a written and signed contract. If they are not willing to sign, tell them thanks but no thanks.

Maria Said:

I love teaching but I hate my teaching job.?

We Answered:

Thats the job.

hard to hear isnt it?

16 year teacher here. I get 200 copies per month. I bought my own copy machine. I sent 0 referrals last year. I dealt with each and every one myself. called home, had parents sit with student, kept after class etc.Planning time at school? never. I plan/grade on average 10 to 15 hours per week on my own time. I come in saturdays sometimes to catch up. Administrators come and go leaving a trail of unfinished business and changing rules. We teachers have the institutional memory in a school.

What can I say to keep you>? It is a hard and stressful career, but the payoff is immeasurable. You haven't seen any of that yet. Half of new teachers leave the profession within five years. not enough time to:

see students succeed in college and beyond.
see whole familes come through your school
teach children of your former students.
get thanks from adults you do not even recognize for something you did when they were kids
make a difference in thousands of lives
work with a teacher colleague who was your student

I have had each of these things happen to me, I'm sorry you will not have a chance to do these things.

June Said:

Is it legal to write a email to students/parents of my school to tell them to call the mayor?

We Answered:

its legal but you should also do a protest outside out side of city hall

Regina Said:

How should I quit my teaching job?

We Answered:

I agree you should leave. ALWAYS be professional, and brief when resigning. Here is a quick and easy format for a resignation letter you might want to use:

Your Name
Your Address
Your City, State, Zip Code

Date

Name
Title
Organization
Address
City, State, Zip Code

Dear Mr./Ms. Last Name:

Please accept this letter as formal notification that I am leaving my position with XYZ company on February 1, 2011. (Insert whatever date works for you. I'd suggest 2 weeks notice. If you can stay longer to help transition with a new employee, and are willing to do so, indicate that as well. For example, you might add the sentence: If it would be of benefit to you, I am available to stay through (date) to assist with training and transition of a new employee.)

Thank you for the opportunities you have provided me during my time with the company. If I can be of any other assistance during this transition, please let me know.

Sincerely,

Your Signature

Your Typed Name

I understand you wanting to wait until the end of a work day but it really would be best to do it at the beginning of the day. Make sure YOU control any conversations about your resignation. If you feel inclined to let them know why, then by all means do so but make sure you are unemotional and professional. If you don't want to address the reasons you are leaving you could always tell them that you are quitting to focus on your studies as you will transferring to a 4 year college and will be taking upper level courses.

Best of Luck. I know how uncomfortable it is resigning!
