-You are looking for a job in a new occupation,

-You are looking for a job for the first time.

These expenses are considered miscellaneous itemized deductions and are only taken if you are eligible to itemize your deductions on Schedule A. If you take the standard deduction they could not be deducted.

These expenses are subject to 2% of your adjusted gross income (AGI).

If you meet these requirements, you would be able to deduct only the portion of your phone bills that pertain to the job search, not the entire phone bill.

Because the boss doesn't want to part with profits you make for him by doing your job. And you probable do more than he does and he is out enjoying life while you are making it possible for him. I don't know any employer who hires on merits of experience. They all want to start you at minimum wage, And if they can get away with it they do. It should be fare wages not minimum wages. Welcome to the real America. There are not guarantees for compensation, it is based solely on the demand in the labor market for your particular skill. Finding customer service workers is apparently very easy particularly in this job market. All I can suggest to you is for you to think about changing your field. I know this sounds hard, but if you work in engineering or health related fields you'll make more money due to the demand for those sort of skills.
