Jobs Medical Writing

Todd Said:

What non-medical jobs can you get with a degree or masters in biology?

We Answered:

hah i was where you are a couple years ago.

i was a psych major my freshman year until my dad convinced me i would have no future (he was just looking out for me) i changed my major to biology and i LOVE it.

there are plenty of fields (im a physiology concentration) but you can find a job working outdoors, doing research... etcc. the chemistry courses are pretty minimal (im a chem minor so i take a lot more of it even though its def NOT my forte and I suck at it.. hard workers will earn good grades though, i have learned) i think after gen chem you only need maybe one semester/quarter of organic chemistry.

otherwise if you go to a school where they offer a wide range of biology courses, go for it! if you dont like it after a semester or 2 then get the hell out before you're sucked in. You could also look in to nursing or something along those lines.. which is much simpler than being a doctor but still fascinating stuff....

Science is a great field. I highly recommend it... you just have to narrow down your field if you continue with it

Linda Said:

Can I use my Bachelor of Arts to get into the medical field?

We Answered:

You are a communicator but you are lacking the medical terminology to be effective as a writer in the field. If you like the professional writing, contact a medical journal to see what you must do to get on their ladder. You might also search out the United Nations World Health Organization (WHO) and see what's on their job board. You might be able to enter the WHO with what you have and beef up your medical education as you move along.
