Jobs In The Writing Field
Felicia Said:
Do you lock in a job with the Navy DEP?We Answered:
She'll do the same thing as you. MEPS and the ASVAB and then once she sits down with the Liaison they will tell her what she qualifies for rate (job) wise. She can pick out of those and they will lock it in by contract with everything explained in it. A school, Basic(which is Great Lakes), when she ships, how long she will serve, and any advancements or bonuses.
If she doesn't like any of those options she's offer she can retake the ASVAB and try to see if she scores higher for more choices. Part of her job selection will depend on what the Navy's needs are at that given time.
Good Luck!

could i get a job writing reports and things in the field of criminal justice.?We Answered:
To answer you question, yes. Within the federal system they have "Investigative Assistants" who help investigators by writing their reports and helping them keep up with information in a case. You English degree would be a plus, although I think your CJ should be secondary. You could also get into data entry, or become an intelligence analyst, which is really interesting. Within the federal system you could make a really good salary over time. If you become a supervisor you could be in the $70,000.00+ a year area.Daisy Said:

Online Freelance Writing Jobs?We Answered:
Real Writing Jobs, from what I have seen, is a scam. What you want is Demand Studios (a quick google search will get you the website). I'm working there right now, and I get about $30 to $60 an hour, depending on how fast I type. You write 400 word articles, each one gets you $15. There are other titles, ones for $5 and others for $25, but the most common is $15. Most of these are How-Tos that appear on eHow.
There is no charge for joining up, you just have to submit a resume, so having previous writing experience is a must. I wrote a bunch of articles for Associated Content before, so that is how I got in. If you don't have experience yet, I suggest spending about a year writing for other websites, and then going to Demand Studios.
Other websites that pay are Associated Content (about $3 to $15 upfront with residual), HubPages (residual), Squidoo (residual) and Bukisa.
Good luck with your freelance venture. I'm making full-time income with Demand Studios now (over $50,000/year) and this has helped me get a lot of experience.

If my major in college is print journalism and I can't find a writing job/internship then what other field canWe Answered:
Nonprofit organizations are usually delighted to get interns - and you would have a broader experience there than at a newspaper. Some nonprofits that I can think of are YMCA, a large church, the Red Cross, museums, and facilities that help the unfortunate. (My megachurch maintains a Samaritan Center where they sell people's donated clothing and household items and help people who have been burned out or are out of work, etc.) All such organizations do a lot of public relations work.
Or, perhaps you can intern in the mayor's office! Depending on the size of city you live in or near, there should be a lot of potential places. You will need to clear whatever you choose, however, with your dean.
