Terry Said:

Why can't I find any entry level jobs in journalism, public relations or communications?

We Answered:

you will probably need an internship. obviously, this isn't ideal because they usually pay little to nothing but it will provide you with the experience you need to get your foot in the door for building a future in PR.

once they see that you have worked on a communications project or PR campaign, etc. they will know that you have some working knowledge of the industry. having the educational background isn't as important anymore. i know a PR rep that worked for years as an admin assistant and now she handles most midsize accounts for her firm.

don't give up though. keep applying and i wish you luck :-)

Lewis Said:

are communication/journalism jobs hard to find in atlanta?

We Answered:

If you look across the USA, newspapers are folding every week, and not just in small towns.

The Internet is going to be the death of newspapers. Why ? They cannot compete with the immediacy of news radio, or the 24 TV hour news channels.

If you can speak with clear a clear unaccented voice with out a regional accent, and you are willing to work hard and make low wages for a few years, look at radio or TV, as a on air person.

.If you think that you are a writer, forget being in front of the cameras and shoot for magazines, or even better, the new world of the ezine.

I'm surprised that you have gotten to your senior year, and NOW you start thinking about finding employment ? You should have done some in-depth research, before you ever put money down to get into the program. This change in the economy as it relates to journalisim was being reported 10 years ago, by futurists.

Don't restrict your job search to Georgia. Be prepared to go across the country, to get that job.

I write radio ads, and also do voice over work for radio stations and I narrate commercial films. This is after a 30 year career in the Canadian Forces, as a military Police investigator.

My point ? You can't expect to do the same type of work for your entire life. Be ready to do a wide range of things, in the next 40 years of your working life.

Good Luck to you.
