Tips on freelance journalism?

We Answered:

do you know anyone who is an editor? do you know anyone who works at a local newspaper? do you have any experience or work samples (clips)? with freelancing, finding the work sometimes takes more time than doing the work itself. it helps to work any connections you have to an editor. if you are really interested in journalism you might look into joining SPJ or a group like NABJ or NAHJ, to get to know other people in this field and to have the opportunity to attend meetings with other journalists.

what are the best tips for writing in general from writers?

We Answered:

When writing, show, don't tell. Also, use all your 5 senses. What do you smell, what do you see, what do you hear, how does this make the character feel? This is all important when writing. Also, use similes often and others. Also, keep thing fast pace. Don't let the reader be bored, keep it interesting. What is have noticed in writings is that they use way to many commas, so be sure your grammar is correct. And use your imagination, and print it on paper.
