I suggest that you visit the website of the ASCD, or Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development. (www.ascd.org) They have a number of resources for designing curriculum. The current favored method is Understanding by Design, which takes a backward mapping approach--figure out where you want students to be, and then work backward from there. The website will have many books and ideas for you.

When you major in a subject with the word curriculum in it, I would assume it to be a given that you are going into teaching. If you want another career, your BA will qualify you for any job where the employer is looking for someone with a college degree and planning on training the applicant. Very few of these would be in the field of writing but they might be.
