It basically means you need to be able to research, think, and come to your own conclusions- despite the medium of which you research or the topic of discussion. It doesn't matter what you're researching- just that you can research and analyze in general.

My brother went to a 20,000 dollar a year college, and got a degree in marketing. He then later had a change of heart, and decided to become a preacher. He is now going to seminary school in a different state. Honestly, you really just need to follow your heart, and do what makes you happy.
